Sad Little Garden

Out of August

I just thought I’d update for anyone who was wondering what had happened to me. Gosh, that makes it sound like something happened to me when really it’s just been an oddly busy month or so.

I’m working part-time for the next few months and going back to “real” work has been interesting on a number of levels. It’s hard being back in front of a computer for two eight-hour days each week, but fortunately the weather has been awful for most of the days I’ve worked so far. It’s far harder to sit in front of a computer and concentrate on work when the sky is clear. It’s also been interesting being back in my old world-my pre-children, pre-garden world. It’s clarified some stuff for me.

The other reasons I haven’t been here are that I’m still working on a huge “sorting out my house” project which is supposed to make my life better in a million different ways (It’s just taking a long time to sort through the crap both physically and metaphorically), and I’m dithering about homeschooling again. If you think I dither about my garden -ha! That’s nothing compared to the way I’ve been dithering about homeschooling for the last 8 or 9 years. At the moment elder son is going to school when I can drag him (kicking and shrieking literally some mornings) and my younger son is learning at home with me which naturally means I’m spending less time on the computer and more time painting, reading, trying to organise the house so that their room-sized creations are more manageable and generally trying to parent in a way that is more concious and fully present in the moment.

I hope you’re enjoying spring. I have a list of jobs to do in the garden and, quite unlike me, I’ve actually written them down!
